Water leaks = Money leaks

As fall is approaching, we seem to naturally start to prepare our homes for winter. We rake leaves, clean gutters, and make the necessary repairs that will make our homes withstand the extremes of winter weather more easily. I hope you haven't been so busy during the summer to let water leaks continue though. I had an experience with water leaks this year that I would like to share with you. This will show that even a Feng Shui practitioner can experience bad Feng Shui situations.

This summer my husband and I noticed that we were encountering more financial expenditures than we had been anticipating. New expenses just kept popping up. It turned out that we had several water leaks. One of the leaks took a couple visits by the repairman, but the problem was eventually solved. Once all the leaks were completely fixed, the money drain stopped. No more surprise expenses!

I've had several clients who have experienced the effect of a water leak themselves. One client had an outdoor water faucet that leaked. He tried to fix it himself, but it was still leaking and he hadn't gotten around to having a plumber come yet. During this time, his wallet was stolen and his car needed extra costly repairs. Needless-to-say, he promptly got the leak fixed and the money drain stopped.

Another client had a leaking water heater. As soon as they fixed it, she received a nice raise at work. Her pay had been stagnant for some time prior to that.

If you are experiencing any money drains right now, check your home for water leaks - leaky faucets, pipes, water heater, water softener, washing machine, dishwasher, or toilets. Any of these can have a detrimental effect on your financial situation. Just as open drains can allow the money to flow away and open toilets can flush the money away, a leaky faucet can be a constant drain on the pocketbook. Repair those leaks!

Joy Notes Q&A

Joy,

I work in an office cube. The entrance to my cube is right over the career section of my bagua. I can't lift the carpet tiles and the carpet is earth tone, squares. Any ideas to enhance my career?

Sandra, Madison, WI

Sandra,

Water is the element for career. Earth is the controlling element for water. Squares and earthtones are earth elements and thus are detrimental for career.

The best solution would be to add a rug to the entrance - on top of the carpet tiles. Choose a round rug to represent metal and one that has water elements in it to represent career. By choosing a metal and water rug, the nourishing cycle is completed. (Earth makes metal, metal supports water). Examples:

  • A black or dark colored round rug
  • A patterned, round rug with wavy shapes in it
  • Even a round rug with a water scene on it would work

The rug could have an additional beneficial effect. You may find that others will become less intrusive while you are working and may even knock before being "invited" into your office.

If you aren't allowed to place a rug in your doorway, look to see if there is a shelf near the doorway. You could place a round, multi-faceted crystal on this shelf to energize career or hang a picture of water on the wall of the doorway.
