The
Scent-tual Side of Love
Are you enjoying
your relationships? Is your love life as fulfilling, stimulating, and
intimate as you'd like it to be? With Valentine's Day just around the
corner, our thoughts turn to romance and the quality of our relationships.
Whether single, engaged, married, or divorced, everyone needs to love
and be loved. When we think of love and our homes, the first room that
comes to mind is the master bedroom. Take a look at this romance room
through "Feng Shui eyes".
What message does your bedroom convey?
- Is it a romantic room?
- Is the room devoted to sleep and romance?
- Are there items in the room that don't belong there, such as computers,
desks, or exercise equipment?
- Is it a room that stimulates all five senses?
When you are designing your bedroom, keep the five senses
in mind Ð smell, touch, sound, sight, and taste. A room that embraces
all of your senses will be more sensual, enriching and memorable.
Here are some ways to bring scent into your room, making
your bedroom more scent-tual.
- Aromatherapy. There are many aromatherapy scents to enhance love,
including geranium, grapefruit, orange, pine, sandalwood, and ylang
ylang. Use pure essential oils to incorporate these scents into your
bedroom. Place a few drops on a light bulb, create a mist to scent the
air, place a couple drops on a candle, or just add a few drops to a
vase of flowers.
- Flowers Ð Fresh flowers not only add a beautiful fragrance to a room
but are candy to our eyes.
- Fresh air Ð Freshen your bedroom's air by opening a window to clear
out stale air. Nothing kills the romantic feeling like the smell of
dirty gym socks.
- Speaking of dirty gym socks, make sure that all the laundry is picked
up and placed out of smelling and viewing range.

Feng
Shui 2004 Parade Home
I'm very excited
to announce that this year's 2004 Madison Area Builder's Association Parade
of Homes will feature a home built using Feng Shui. It's been a dream
of mine to showcase a quality home built with sound Feng Shui principles
and I can think of no better place to do that than in a Parade Home. Michael
F. Simon Builders and the Wisconsin Feng Shui Guild have teamed together
to accomplish this goal. As co-leader of the Parade committee of the Wisconsin
Feng Shui Guild, I have been deeply involved in all aspects of this project
and am enjoying every minute of it. Feng Shui is being incorporated into
the layout, interior, kitchen, and landscape design.
This home will
be in the Bergamont Subdivision in Oregon. The parade is June 12-27. Three
different types of Feng Shui are being represented in the home: Essential
Feng Shui, Black Sect, and Interior Alignment. A land blessing ceremony
and a foundation blessing ceremony have both been performed and a space
clearing/topping one is scheduled for after the house is completed. This
will be an amazing home that you'll want to experience. Hope to see you
there. I'll keep you posted on the project in future newsletters.

Notes Q&A
Welcome to the first Joy Notes Q&A. Get the answers to Feng
Shui questions you have.
Joy,
I have a two-story condo. When I am
doing the map of my bagua, do I map the upper level on top of the lower,
and replicate it, or do I treat it as a new map since the entrance is
in a different area from the lower level?
Cheryl, Madison, WI
Cheryl,
This can be a confusing aspect of laying the bagua on your
home as different books can give different answers. Essential Feng Shui
as taught at the Western School of Feng Shui lays the bagua out on each
floor exactly as it is laid out on the primary floor. So the basement,
second, and third floors would have the same bagua layout as the first
floor without regard to the direction the stairwell faces as it opens
onto that floor. The bagua configuration will look the same on each of
the floors.
